Higher Ground Consulting (HGC) has extensive knowledge in western environmental science and adds value for our clients through an inherent understanding of the terrestrial and social landscapes they are developing. Our environmental team is comprised of individuals with years of experience in diverse disciplines, including wetlands, water, vegetation, wildlife, soils, aquatics and consultation.
REGULATORY, FRONT-END PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION
We support our clients by working with them to determine the regulatory road map for their projects, providing front-end planning through permits and applications, potential site evaluations and constraints mapping. Our permitting services include work with AER, AEP, NRCB, NEB, CEAA, and BC OGC. As well as performing pre-disturbance assessments and conservation/reclamation and construction plans, we execute environmental assessments for pad, pit, facility and linear development and provide experienced construction monitors during buildouts.
OPERATIONS AND COMPLIANCE MONITORING
We currently design, manage and implement EPEA monitoring programs in the fields of wetlands, vegetation, water, soils and wildlife for major oil and gas lease holders. Our team of professional agrologists, biologists and hydrogeologists, provide high-end assessments, modeling, monitoring and analysis. We take pride in working with our clients and regulators in looking for innovative solutions to reduce redundancy, eliminate obsolete and non- productive tasks and provide valued results.
ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENTS AND RECLAMATION
HGC performs environmental site assessments (Phase I, Phase II and Phase III) in rural and urban settings, to support our clients in their understanding of environmental liabilities and potential remediation needed. HGC evaluates innovative solutions for reclamation, working with clients to incorporate stakeholder- endorsed solutions, while meeting their regulatory requirements. HGC has designed and implemented reclamation and interim reclamation plans as well as reclamation trials for wetlands and borrow pits.
Our team includes stakeholder engagement and consultation expertise that have worked in energy and renewable energy sectors providing deliverables to AER, AEP, OGC, NRCB and CEAA. We have proficiency in the creation of Participant Involvement Programs, Communications Plans, Indigenous Engagement Plans, Notifications, Record of Consultations, facilitating of open houses and stakeholder meetings, and the development of engagement materials. HGC recognizes the need for cooperation amongst stakeholders in the regions that are being impacted. We work with our clients and impacted communities on capacity building initiatives, traditional land use understanding, and employment opportunities.
