Higher Ground Consulting (HGC) is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing business and help lead the development and execution of civil engineering services to support HGC’s ongoing projects and clients.
The successful applicant will provide and manage the development and execution of civil engineering services for various civil heavy earthworks projects including earthen containment ponds, landfills, roads, dams, water resources, foundations, site drainage, and miscellaneous infrastructure. The successful candidate will have the initiative and accountability to work independently and with our team in a rewarding, fast paced environment.
Responsibilities may include the following:
- Civil design of various structures such as containment ponds/reservoirs, landfills, roads, dams, water resources, foundations, site grading, and miscellaneous infrastructure.
- Project Management, including project initiation, coordination, and execution.
- Creating regulatory applications.
- Direction / supervision of junior and/or field staff.
- Interfacing with clients and helping solve problems.
- Reporting and technical writing.
- Willingness to do site inspections, if required.
- Development of standards, guidelines, and procedures.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Civil Engineering.
- Registration or eligibility to immediately register as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
- Applicant must be willing to travel as required on a project needs basis.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are essential.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Exposure to civil earthworks construction projects will be considered an asset. Experience working in Alberta and British Columbia on earthworks and water resources related projects would be an asset.
